Tagging People in Memories
Connect family members to memories so their stories are always linked together.
Tagging family members in your memories is one of the most powerful things you can do in Memory Murals. It connects people to stories, builds your Life Threads graph, and makes it easy to find every memory involving a specific person.
How to Tag People
When creating or editing a memory:
- Scroll down to the People section in the memory editor
- You will see a list of your family members
- Tap on anyone who was part of this memory
- Tagged people appear as highlighted chips — tap again to remove them
That is all it takes. When you save the memory, those people are permanently linked to it.
Automatic Tagging With Voice Recording
When you voice record a memory, AI listens for names you mention. If those names match family members in your roster, they are automatically tagged.
For example, if you say "Mom and I went to the farmer's market that Saturday" and you have a family member named "Mom" in your roster, she gets tagged automatically.
Check Your Tags After Recording
AI does a good job with clear names, but it is worth reviewing the tagged people after a voice recording. You may want to add someone the AI missed or remove someone tagged by mistake.
Adding a New Person While Tagging
If you are recording a story about someone who is not in your roster yet, you do not need to leave the editor:
- Tap + Add person in the People section
- Enter their name and relationship role
- Tap Save
- They are instantly created in your Family roster and tagged in the current memory
This keeps you in the flow of storytelling without interruptions.
Why Tagging Matters
Tagging is what makes Memory Murals more than a journal. When you tag people:
- Their memory count grows in the Family tab, showing how many stories feature them
- Life Threads builds connections between people who share memories together
- Search improves because you can find memories by who was there, not just what happened
- Family members can find their stories when they browse your shared memories
Tips for Consistent Tagging
- Tag everyone who was part of the moment, even if the story is mainly about one person. A Christmas dinner memory should include everyone who was at the table.
- Tag people mentioned in the story, not just those physically present. If you are telling a story about advice your grandfather gave you, tag him even if the memory is about how you used that advice years later.
- Review older memories. As you add more family members to your roster, go back and tag them in earlier memories where they belong.
Every tag you add strengthens the web of connections between your people and your stories.
