Adding Family Members

Your family roster is the foundation of Memory Murals. Adding family members lets you tag people in memories, see how many stories each person appears in, and explore connections through Life Threads.

How to Add a Family Member

1. Tap the Family tab at the bottom of the app

2. Tap the + button in the top corner

3. Fill in the details:

   • Name (required) — their first name, or whatever you call them
   • Relationship role — choose from: Mother, Father, Partner, Sibling, Son, Daughter, Grandparent, Friend, Pet, and more
   • Photo (optional) — upload a profile picture for them
   • Birthday (optional) — so you can find birthday memories easily
   • Anniversary (optional) — for important shared dates

4. Tap Save

The new family member appears in your roster, sorted alphabetically.

What You See in the Family List

Each family member's card shows:

• Their name and relationship role
• Their photo (or a placeholder avatar if you did not add one)
• A memory count showing how many memories they are tagged in

Tap any family member to see all the memories they are connected to.

Adding Family Members From the Memory Editor

You do not have to leave the memory editor to add someone new. When creating or editing a memory:

1. Scroll to the People section
2. Tap + Add person
3. Fill in their name and role
4. They are automatically tagged in the current memory

This is especially handy when you are recording a story and realize you have not added someone yet.

Tips for Building Your Roster

• Use the name you actually call them. "Grandma Rose" is better than "Rosemary Johnson" if that is how your family refers to her.
• Add pets too. Pets are family. Choose the "Pet" role and they will appear in your roster alongside everyone else.
• Add a photo when you can. It makes the Family tab, Life Threads, and tagged memory cards much more personal and recognizable.

Your family roster grows alongside your memories. Every person you add becomes part of the story you are preserving.
