You Own the Story
The owner is the only person who creates, edits, or deletes memories. Your timeline only ever changes because you changed it.
Family Contributes, You Decide
Family and friends you invite can view what you share with them, comment, add their own perspective, ask you questions, and send you photos. A photo they send only reaches your timeline if you approve it.
Private Memories Stay Private
Mark any memory or letter private and no one else sees it — not even family you have invited — unless you give a specific person access to your private memories.

There are no public profiles, feeds, or search listings. You can create a link to a single memory or one person's page if you want to, and turn it off at any time.
How Your Data Is Protected
Memory Murals runs on Google Cloud (Firebase). Here is specifically what that means for your memories.
AES-256 Encryption at Rest
Every photo, voice recording, document, and story you upload is encrypted at rest using AES-256 — the same encryption standard trusted by the U.S. government and major financial institutions.
TLS 1.2+ Encryption in Transit
All data traveling between your device and our servers is protected by TLS 1.2 or higher encryption, ensuring no one can intercept your memories in transit.
Hosted on Google Cloud
Your data is stored on Google Cloud Platform (Firebase). Google's infrastructure holds SOC 1, SOC 2, SOC 3, and ISO 27001 certifications. Those certifications cover Google's data centers — Memory Murals itself has not been independently audited.
Secure Authentication
Sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication (Google), with email and password or your Google account. We never see or store your password, and sign-in tokens expire every hour and refresh automatically.
Google Cloud stores your data with built-in redundancy. And because no single copy should be the only one, you can download your whole archive — memories, photos, videos and recordings — at any time, on every plan including Free. If you stop paying, nothing is deleted: your account moves to the Free plan and everything stays.

Memory Murals ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Memory Murals website at memorymurals.com, the web application at app.memorymurals.com, and the Memory Murals mobile application (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name via Firebase Authentication. You may also sign in with Google, in which case we receive your Google profile name and email.
Content You Create: Memories, stories, voice recordings, photos, videos, documents, family member profiles, letters, and answers to story questions that you voluntarily add to the Service. This content is stored in Google Cloud Firestore and Firebase Storage.
Device Permissions (Mobile App): With your explicit permission, the mobile app may access your device's camera (to take photos for memories), microphone (to record voice notes and stories), and photo/media library (to upload existing photos and videos). You can revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings.
Payment Information: Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number. Stripe may collect payment details per their own privacy policy.
Usage Data: We use Google Analytics (GA4) to collect anonymized usage data such as pages visited and feature usage to improve the Service. We also use Google Ads conversion tracking to measure whether our advertising reaches people who go on to sign up. Both record activity such as pages visited, sign-ups and subscription purchases. Neither can see your memories, photos, recordings or any other content you create, and we do not send them your content.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- To process your subscription and payments via Stripe
- To send transactional emails (account confirmations, support replies, trial reminders) via Resend
- If you give us your email for a free guide or tool results, we store it to send you what you asked for and occasional updates; reply “unsubscribe” to any of them, or email support, and we’ll remove you
- To power AI features (voice transcription, title generation, memory search) using Google Gemini — your content is processed server-side and is not used to train AI models
- To respond to support requests
3. What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell or rent your personal data or your content, ever, to anyone
- We do not share your memories, photos, recordings, or any content you create with advertising platforms. The only thing our advertising measurement records is anonymized activity such as visiting a page or starting a subscription
- We do not display advertising of any kind
- We do not use your content to train AI models
- We do not make your content public. Nothing is visible outside the family you invite unless you create a share link yourself; shared pages are marked so search engines don’t index them, and you can turn any link off (anyone who already saved a shared memory to their own account keeps that copy)
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Google Cloud Platform (Firebase) infrastructure, which holds SOC 1, SOC 2, SOC 3, and ISO 27001 certifications. All data is encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.2+). Sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication; sign-in tokens expire hourly and refresh automatically.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate Memory Murals:
- Firebase (Google Cloud) — authentication, database, and file storage
- Stripe — payment processing
- Resend — transactional email delivery
- Google Gemini — AI-powered features (server-side only)
- Google Analytics (GA4) — anonymized usage analytics
- Google Ads — conversion measurement for our own advertising
- Vercel — web application hosting
Each of these services has their own privacy policy governing how they handle data.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Your content is retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual memories, media, or family members at any time. To delete your entire account and all associated data, visit our account deletion page or use the "Delete Account" option in your account settings. Account deletion is permanent and cascading — all memories, media, family members, letters, and profile data will be permanently removed.
7. Children's Privacy
Memory Murals is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will delete the account.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time through your account settings. You can export your data, revoke device permissions, or delete your account entirely. If you have questions about your data, contact us at support@memorymurals.com.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice on the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
