Editing and Deleting Memories
How to update or remove memories from your collection.
Memories are living records. Details come back to you later, dates need correcting, or you find a better photo. Memory Murals makes it simple to edit any memory at any time — and to delete ones you no longer want.
How to Edit a Memory
- Tap the memory in your Timeline to open it
- Tap the pencil icon (Edit button), or tap the three-dot menu in the top corner and choose Edit
- The memory editor opens with all your existing content loaded
From here you can change any field:
- Title — rewrite it or let AI generate a new one
- Notes — add more detail, fix typos, or rewrite the story
- Date — correct when the memory happened
- Category — switch between Birthday/Anniversary, Trip, Holiday, Milestone, or General
- Tags — add or remove descriptive tags
- Photos and media — attach new images or remove existing ones
- Tagged people — add or remove family members connected to this memory
When you are done, tap Save. Your changes appear immediately across all views — Timeline, Calendar, and Life Threads.
Edit From Anywhere
You can open the memory editor from the Timeline, Calendar view, Life Threads, or even the Media tab. Any changes you make are saved to the same memory regardless of where you opened it.
How to Delete a Memory
- Tap the memory to open it
- Tap the three-dot menu in the top corner
- Choose Delete
- A confirmation dialog appears asking if you are sure
- Tap Delete to confirm
Deletion Is Permanent
Once you confirm deletion, the memory and all its attached media are permanently removed. There is no trash folder or undo option. Take a moment to be sure before you confirm.
When to Edit vs. Create a New Memory
- Edit when you are correcting or adding to an existing story — fixing a date, adding a photo you just found, or expanding the notes with more detail
- Create new when you have a separate story to tell, even if it involves the same people or event
There is no limit to how many times you can edit a memory. Come back to your stories whenever new details surface — that is exactly what Memory Murals is built for.
