Your First Memory
A step-by-step walkthrough of creating your very first memory in Memory Murals.
Adding a memory to Memory Murals takes less than a minute. Whether you type a few sentences, speak a story out loud, or simply upload a photo, the process is designed to feel effortless. Here's exactly how to do it.
Step-by-Step: Add Your First Memory
Creating a Memory
Tap the + button
From your Timeline, tap the + button at the bottom of the screen. This opens the memory editor.
Give it a title
Type a short title that captures the moment — something like "Dad's famous chili recipe" or "First day of kindergarten." If you use voice recording, the AI will suggest a title for you.
Write or record your story
Tap the notes field to type, or tap the Record button to speak your memory out loud. Write as much or as little as you want — even a single sentence is enough.
Add a photo (optional)
Tap the photo button to attach an image from your device. You can add multiple photos, videos, or documents to a single memory.
Pick a date
Set the date the memory happened. This places it correctly on your Timeline and Calendar. If you mentioned a date while recording, the AI fills this in for you.
Tag family members
Tap the family tag area and select the people who were part of this moment. Tagged members will see this memory connected to them in Life Threads.
Save
Tap Save and your memory is added to your Timeline instantly.
That's it. Your first memory is preserved.
Don't Overthink It
The most important thing is to start. Your first memory doesn't need to be a masterpiece or a major life event. Some of the most meaningful entries are small, everyday moments:
- The way your grandmother always said goodnight
- A funny thing your child said at breakfast
- The smell of your parents' kitchen on a Sunday morning
Start with what's on your mind right now
Think of one person you love. What's a moment with them that makes you smile? That's your first memory. Open Memory Murals and save it before it fades.
What Happens After You Save
Your memory appears on your Timeline, sorted by the date it happened. If you tagged family members, it also shows up in their Life Threads — a visual map of your shared stories. You can edit, add more photos, or record additional details anytime by tapping the memory.
Every memory you add makes your family's story richer. Start with one. The rest will follow naturally.
