Storage and Quotas
Understand your storage limits and learn how to make the most of your space.
Every Memory Murals account comes with cloud storage for your photos, videos, audio recordings, and documents. Here's what you need to know about your storage limits and how to manage them.
Storage by Plan
| Plan | Storage Limit | |------|---------------| | Free | 1 GB | | Trial (7 days) | 25 GB | | Premium | 25 GB |
When your trial ends and you move to the Free plan, your existing files are not deleted. You simply can't upload new files once you exceed the 1 GB limit. Upgrading to Premium instantly unlocks the full 25 GB.
Checking Your Usage
- Go to the Account tab
- Look for the storage bar — it shows how much space you've used and how much remains
- The bar fills up as you upload more files
Quick Math
1 GB holds roughly 300-500 standard phone photos. 25 GB can hold thousands of photos plus hours of video. Most families won't come close to the limit with photos alone.
What Uses the Most Space
Not all files are created equal. Here's a rough guide:
- Photos — 2-5 MB each (smallest)
- Audio recordings — 1-3 MB per minute
- Documents — varies, usually 1-10 MB
- Videos — 50-150 MB per minute (largest by far)
Videos are the biggest storage consumers. A single 10-minute video could use over 1 GB of your storage.
Tips to Save Space
- Compress photos before uploading. Many phones have a "reduce file size" option in the share menu. Third-party apps can also shrink photos without noticeable quality loss.
- Trim video clips. Upload only the important moments rather than full-length recordings. A 30-second clip tells the same story with a fraction of the storage.
- Remove files you no longer need. Go to the Media tab, select unused or duplicate files, and delete them to free up space.
- Use audio instead of video when the visual doesn't matter. A voice recording of a story uses far less space than a video of someone talking.
Approaching Your Limit?
If you're running low on storage, the app will let you know. Delete unused files or upgrade your plan to keep uploading. You will never lose existing files — the limit only prevents new uploads.
Upgrading for More Storage
If you're on the Free plan and need more room, upgrading to Premium gives you 25 GB immediately. Go to Account > Plan and choose Monthly ($7.99/mo) or Annual ($79.99/yr) to unlock the full storage and all other Premium features.
